'Golden Boy of India': India celebrates 'absolute superstar' Neeraj's historic achievement

Indian javelin thrower and Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra competed in the finals of the World Athletics Championships 2023, being held in Budapest, Hungary. Chopra once again made the nation proud and grabbed the gold medal by achieving a throw of 88.17 m. He also left behind Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, who was one of his prime competitors in the event.

Netizens ecstatic after Neeraj Chopra wins maiden gold at WAC 2023 

After Neeraj Chopra achieved a throw of 88.17m in his second attempt, netizens came up with various reactions on social media and congratulated India's golden boy on his success in the World Athletics Championships 2023. 

Neeraj leaves behind Arshad, and Vadlejch to win gold

Apart from Neeraj Chopra's historic gold medal, Pakistan's Nadeem achieved a distance of 87.82m and won the silver medal. Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch won the bronze medal with a throw of 86.67m. India's DP Manu and Kishore Jena also finished in the top eight and gained the fifth and sixth spots, respectively.

After the success in the World Athletics Championships 2023, Neeraj Chopra will now head to Hangzhou, China, where he will compete in the 2023 Asian Games. Chopra is the current Asian champion and will have to defend his title. Looking at his progress of Chopra after the Tokyo Olympics 2020, he is once again the preferred choice to win gold at the Asian Games.
