Alex Gordon is all set to bring curtains down on his stellar MLB career at end of 2020 season. Having spent his entire career with Kansas City Royals, 36-year-old announced his decision to retire from his beloved sport via a conference call on Thursday. three-time All-Star revealed he h initially planned to hang up his boots at end of last season.

However, appointment of Mike Many as manager and veterans like Danny Duffy and Salvor Perez still in squ, Gordon decided to continue playing for Royals. Gordon said he was forced to reconsider his decision after MLB went under lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic. 

"I feel like, at end of day, I'm missing my kids and ir activities more than I'm going to miss this," Gordon said during Zoom call interview. "It's kind of bittersweet because this is hard for me to do. This is what I've done my whole life. but at same time, I'm excited to be around my family, be around my kids and just catch up on things I've missed my whole life.''
