15-year old Arjun Bhati wins Indian Golf Union Junior Championship

Arjun Bhati has won Indian Golf Junior National Championship and defeated Bngalore's Aryan during the three-day final match and scored a record of 209 strokes

On Wednesday, 15-year-old Arjun Bhati has won the Indian Golf Junior National Championship and defeated Bngalore's Aryan during the three-day final match at Tollygunge Golf Course in Kolkata. Bhati scored a record with 209 strokes and defeated as many as 100 golfers who came from all parts of the country. 

'My aim is to win Olympic gold for India'

"After winning the hat-trick, it is my 15th Junior National Championship victory. I am really very happy. I want to be the number one golfer in the world. My aim is to win Olympic gold for India," Bhati said. The Golf star recently also won the Indian Golf Union's National Junior Golf Championship in Jamshedpur. With this victory, his national title counts total to 15 and also marks his 2nd championship win while playing in the senior category.

Arjun Bhati wins FGC Callaway Junior World Golf Championship

In July, Bhati defeated Taiwan's Jeremy Chen to win the FGC Callaway Junior world Golf Championship 2019 in California. Out of the 637 golfers at the tournament, Arjun secured the first position with a total of 199 strokes in the three-day final.“I gave my best and play my game as I wanted to win this championship for my country," he said. He also won the US kids' junior world championship. Bhati who is a school student has been playing golf for about seven years now. Until now, he has participated in a total of 150 tournaments and has emerged victorious in 100 of them. 

In an earlier media statement, Arjun said that the World Championship taught him how to handle the pressure well. He further stated that playing alongside the world's best golfers was an entirely different experience which made him more confident as a player and improved his accuracy. "Playing with the best players in the world is a different kind of experience," he added.
