Assam Rifles team aces it at World Police and Fire Games, bags five gold medals in China

The Assam Rifles archery team has aced it at the World Police and Fire Games which were held in Chengdu, China and concluded on Sunday.

Assam Rifles archery team has aced it at  World Police and Fire Games which were held in Chengdu, China and concluded on Sunday. 

Three archers from Assam Rifles competed in games and emerged victorious. trio bagged five Gold, three Silver and one Bronze medals. team received training by 9 Sector Assam Rifles under aegis of headquarter of Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) based out of Manipur. International Army Games: Indian Army Secures 1st Place In St 4 Of Army Scout Masters Competition

A statement by PRO IGAR (South) stated that archer Rifleman G Robert Sharma from Manipur bagged three Gold medals in compound bow archery. On or hand, Nagaland Rifleman Z Demo won one gold, one silver and one bronze medal in wooden bow events. third soldier S P Lydia from Manipur won a Gold and two silvers in women's wooden bow events.

Sharma had earlier made his appearence and won three Gold medals in previous edition which took place in Los Angeles in 2017. However, or two archers competed for first time on a global platform, as per statement. Every archer was entitled to participating in three archery events at games. games were, Bare Target, Field Archery and 3D Archery in which y won medals. A reception and felicitation has been planned for archers on ir return to Imphal. 

Meanwhile, Indian Army team secured First position in St 4 of Army Scout Masters Competition at Jaisalmer Mil Stn. Army teams from 8 nations competed in Small Arms Shooting, Minefield Brea. and India emerged as winner.

Army scouts masters competition

Army Scouts Masters Competition is a part of International Army Games directed by Russia. It is designed to forge strong ties with friendly foreign countries and enhance team spirit.

This is 5th edition of International Army games and India is hosting it for first time. Spanned between end of July to mid-August 2019, Indian Army's ‘Konark Corps’ have reportedly organized event in Jaisalmer City, Rajasthan. 

Besides India, or 8 countries participating in event include Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Sudan, Zimbabwe, and China.
