Neeraj Chopra returned to action at the Lausanne Diamond League in a bid to improve his rankings. India's golden boy recently came off a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, but he left no time to go toe-to-toe with top stars like Anderson Peters, Jakub Vadlejch, and more. At Lausanne, Switzerland, Chopra put up his best-ever effort as he went past his season-best throw at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Despite battling a longstanding injury, Chopra managed to deliver a new season-best throw.

Neeraj Chopra stood fourth in the Diamond League rankings before the fourth throw but picked up pace with his 85.58m shot on the fifth attempt. Since only the top three athletes are allowed a sixth attempt, the fifth shot helped him big-time. His final attempt of 89.49 has put him in the second place. Neeraj finished behind Peters, who had struggled to regain his form last year. However, in his last attempt, he delivered with a throw of 90.61 meters to stamp his position at the top of the leaderboard. Neeraj is currently at number three in the overall rankings.

This season's Diamond League finale will take place in Brussels, and Neeraj needs to be in the top six to be a part of the summit clash.
