Aussie star Robinson upsets Olympic champ Ferreira at Bells Beach
There was plenty of drama for surfing fans on Saturday at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach event in Australia, round four of the 2022 World Surf League.

re was plenty of drama for surfing fans on Saturday at Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach event in Australia, round four of 2022 World Surf League. In men's quarter-finals re was an epic battle between Brazilian Olympic Gold Medalist Italo Ferreira and emerging home star Jack Robinson.
lead changed hands several times before Robinson caught a wave and in a last gasp effort finished powerfully on siren to score a 7 to snatch win in a major upset. Ferreira was far from impressed though and smashed his board into lockers as he made his exit from event.

Ferreira's fellow Brazilian Filipe Toledo had a much better day and posted highest scoring ride - a near perfect 9.67 - to take down defending event champion John John Florence of Hawaii. Toledo was runner-up behind Florence last final at Bells Beach in 2019 - due to pandemic, it wasn't possible to st 2020 2021 events. Toledo w looks man to beat in competition and will take on ar Australian, Ethan Ewing, in last four.
