China Open Super 1000 badminton tournament

Carolina Marin had earlier pulled out from the World Championship last month stating that she wasn't completely fit. Last week, Marin had participated in the Vietnam Open where she lost in straight games to Supanida Katethong of Thailand in the first round. Marine having suffered a grave injury earlier this year had damaged her ACL. However, after entering China Open she managed to ward off world championship finalist Nozomi Okuhara in straight games and twice fought back from a game down against local favourite He Bingjiao and Japan’s Sayaka Takahashi reaching the finals. Marin took a 19-13 lead before Ying managed to give out a few high strokes. However, Marin engaged her opponent in long rallies before ending the match on a high. Marin is now slated to play next week in the Korea Open where she will face Chen Yufei in the opening round.
