Korea Open 2019: Parupalli Kashyap advances to the quarter-finals
At the BWF Korea Open 2019, Parupalli Kashyap was the only Indian to survive the singles event. Here are the details for the men’s singles badminton match.

At the Korea Open BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament in Incheon, Parupalli Kashyap was the lone Indian to move on to the quarter-finals round on Thursday. PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and B Sai Praneeth exited early on Wednesday. Nehwal and Praneeth retired due to medical reasons.

Kashyap, who was the 2014 Commonwealth Games champion, beat qualifier Lu Chia Hung from Chinese Taipei (21-16, 21-16) and advanced to the second round. He then defeated Daren Liew from Malaysia, moving on to the quarter-finals (21-17, 11-21, 21-12). Kashyap is currently ranked 30th, while Liew is ranked three places below him. Kashyap and Liew’s last match was back in 2014 for the Glasgow CWG quarter-final. The men's singles semi-finals are on Friday, September 27, 2019.

BWF Korea Open 2019: PV Sindhu goes down fighting
World champion PV Sindhu gave her best against USA’s Beiwen Zhang 7-21, 24-22, 21-15 in 57 minutes. This was her second early exit after losing to Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand in the China Open last week. In 2017, Sindhu had bagged the Korea Open title. Sindhu will now participate in the Denmark Open World Tour Super 750 at Odense in October.

BWF Korea Open 2019: Sai Praneeth twists his ankle
Sai Praneeth, who is India’s first male World Championships bronze medallist since 1983, had to withdraw early due to a twisted ankle. Praneeth was trailing 9-21 7-11 against Anders Antonsen before retiring. As his ankle twist is not serious, reports suggest that Praneeth will be ready to play in the Denmark Open and French Open in October.

BWF Korea Open 2019: Saina suffers from stomach ache
Currently ranked eighth, Saina Nehwal had a stomach ache during her first round, before she conceded the match to Kim Ga Eun of Korea. According to her husband, Saina was suffering from stomach aches for some time. As she was without energy for her third round, she decided to withdraw from the match.
