Manasi Joshi wins gold at the BWF Para Badminton World Championships
Manasi Joshi won gold at the BWF Para-Badminton World Championships. India in total finished with 12 medals, including three gold at the para-championships

Amid string of victories for India at BWF World Championship, Manasi Nayan Joshi won gold medal at Para-bminton tournament in Basel, Switzerland. India closed day with 12 medals, including three gold at Para championship while ace shuttler PV Sindhu became first Indian to get a gold at BWF Championship. PM Modi congratulated Para-bminton team for ir splendid performance at tournament. Earlier, he h also met and congratulated PV Sindhu on her performance at championship.

Winning Match
Stoked by her victory, Manasi expressed pleasure over winning game a year before Tokyo Paralympics in 2020. 30-year old player defeated three-time world champion Parul Parmar to pick up this victory. Starting at a slow pace with score of 2-7, Manasi defeated Parmar with 21-12, 21-7 by end of game. Manasi has been practicing since 2015 and she went on to express her joy by saying that it’s her dream come true to win a gold at Para championship. Manasi also congratulated PV Sindhu on her win and said, "PV Sindhu, you are GOAT!" which means greatest of all time.

Story behind her success
Manasi was hit by a truck at a busy junction when she lost her left leg in an accident in 2011. She suffered multiple injuries and broke her arms as well. Manasi was rushed to hospital and took nearly 10 hours to make it to operation ater. After a 12-hour long surgery, she woke up to find out that she was left with an amputated leg due to gangrene. However, unfortunate incident did t stop her from competing mainstream; she learned to walk with a prostic limb in 2012 and after four months of learning, Manasi participated in many inter-company bminton championships. Her spirit never let her lose hope and she decided to turn pro in 2014. With her continuous hard work and struggle, she went on to achieve her dream at 2019 Para- BWF World Championships.
