Priyanshu, Juhi-Venkat win double gold for India in Bahrain Series

Indian Shuttler, Priyanshu Rajawat along with Juhi Dewangan and Venkat Gaurav Prasad won two golds for India in the Bahrain International series on October 14.

Indian shuttler, Priyanshu Rajawat along with Juhi Dewangan and Venkat Gaurav Prasad won gold in the Bahrain International series on October 14. The 17-year old defeated Jason Anthony Ho-Shue from Canada in the finals and acquired the title for men's singles. The top-speeded mixed pair of Dewangan and Gaurav Prasad defeated Thailand's Pannawat Theerapanitnun and Kanyanat Sudchoeichom to bag the gold medal. The Badminton Association of India shared the news saying, “India on the Rise”. 

Game scores

Rajawat rallied from a game deficit to outwit the Canadian shuttler during their clash with scores of 16-21, 21-7, 21-12  on Sunday. Earlier, he had defeated Ade Resky Dwicahyo in pre-quarterfinals. The top-speeded mixed double pair defeated the players from Thailand with 21-18, 21-16 in the clash lasted for 34 minutes. Moreover, Ira Sharma came second in women's singles after losing from Indonesian shuttler, Sri Fatmawati in the finals with 14-21 22-24. The Indian men's doubles pair of Rohan Kapoor and Saurabh Sharma also received silver with 21-19 16-21 22-24 and lost to the Thailand pair of Prad Tangsripapeephan and Apichasit Teerawiwat.

First BWF Tour Title

Lakshya Sen made a memorable comeback after acquiring the title of Dutch Open 2019 on October 13. Sen was also able to win his first Badminton World Federation World Tour Title. The 18-year-old shuttler entered the finals by defeating Felix Burestedt, the Swedish badminton player with scores 21-12; 21-9. The future Olympic player, Sen bagged the trophy by beating Yusuke Onodera from Dutch with 15-21, 21-14, 21-15. In the quarterfinals, Laksha Sen had also conquered another Indian shuttler, Rahul Bharadwaj.
