PV Sindhu: Achievements which make India love & respect the ace player

PV Sindhu made her international debut a decade back in 2009. The ace badminton player won a bronze medal at the Sub-junior Asian Badminton Championship in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The bronze debut win was just a stepping stone for PV Sindhu as she has gone on to become one of the most successful and influential badminton players India ever produced. Here are a few achievements of PV Sindhu which makes India proud.

First Indian Singles Player to win BWF World Championship Gold

PV Sindhu became the first Indian singles player to win a gold at the BWF World Championship by beating Japan's Nozomi Okuhara. The win was even more special to her as it was also her mother's birthday, It was indeed the most special gift she could give to her mother. The champion threw in some strong smashes and defeated Okuhara in just 38 minutes. Interestingly, two years ago, Okuhara had defeated PV Sindhu in a match lasting 118 minutes at the same BWF World championship.

PV Sindhu Is The First Indian To Win Five World Championship Medals

PV Sindhu holds a unique record at the World Championships. She has won five medals in a total of six appearances only at the championship. Sindhu has the following medals: Gold (2019), Silver (2012 and 2018) and Bronze (2013 and 2014) respectively. To date, she is the fastest player to achieve five medals at the World Championship..

First Indian Singles Player To Win Olympic Silver

Sindhu achieved the prestigious feat of winning an Olympic silver at the Rio Olympics in 2016. The only other singles player to hold win an Olympic medal is Sania Nehwal who won the bronze medal back in 2012. She also holds the honour of being the only Indian singles player to hold an Olympic silver. Sindhu says that she has a special place at her home in which she wishes to place her Olympic Gold medal someday soon.
