Saina Nehwal makes 'urgent request' to MEA over visa for Denmark

Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal, on Monday, made an 'urgent request' to the Ministry of External Affairs to help her participate in the upcoming Denmark tour

Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal, on Monday, me an 'urgent request' to Ministry of External Affairs to help her participate in upcoming Denmark tour by sorting out her visa issue. Nehwal took to Twitter to approach Ministry and said that she has a tournament next week and doesn’t have her visa processed yet. She also tagged External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in tweet.

Denmark Open 2019

2019 Denmark Open that will be held at Odense Sports Park in Odense, Denmark, will be sixteenth tournament of 2019 BWF World Tour. It will also part of Denmark Open championships, which have been held since 1935. 

This tournament is organized by Bminton Denmark with sanction from BWF. Denmark Open is scheduled to commence on October 15 and will conclude on October 20. In her opening match in tournament, Nehwal, will compete against Sayaka Takahashi.

Nehwal, who is a world-class bminton player, has achieved several milestones in bminton and brought laurels to India. She is only Indian to have won at least one medal in every BWF major individual event, namely Olympics, BWF World Championships, and BWF World Junior Championships.

ditionally, Nehwal is first Indian bminton player to have won an Olympic medal, along with being only Indian to have won BWF World Junior Championships or to have reached to final of BWF World Championships.

Moreover, In 2006, Nehwal ded ar fear to her hat by becoming first Indian female and youngest Asian to win a 4-star tournament. She also has title of being first Indian to win a Super Series title to her name. Nehwal also became first Indian to win two singles gold medals (2010 and 2018) in Commonwealth Games.
