We all know that Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu are two ace Indian Badminton players, who are amongst the most celebrated sportspersons in the world. In the interest of running a comparison between the on-court performances of the two players, Republic World will pit the statistics of the shuttlers to devise a win-ratio that determines who has won more matches in comparison, as well as an absolute win comparison. While Nehwal is five years older to Sindhu, both ace badminton stars have trained under legend Pullela Gopichand.  While sourcing the data for the comparison from the Badminton World Federation (BWF), an analysis will be run across the performances of the two players in three formats: singles, mixed doubles and doubles.

Saina Nehwal's Career

Saina Nehwal was the first Indian badminton player to rank number one in the world, as per the BWF. Nehwal was born on 17th March 1990 in Hisar District. Her parents are Harvir Singh Nehwal and Usha Nehwal. Saina Nehwal has often spoken about the family support that she enjoys which propels her on-court performances. Nehwal has been a huge inspiration for the youth of India, especially women wanting to make their mark in a career in sports.

PV Sindhu's Career

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu, or better known as PV Sindhu, is an Indian professional badminton player who has been making global headlines for her on-court skills. Sindhu is the only Indian to win gold at BWF Championship-- a feat she accomplished in August 2019. Sindhu was born on July 5, 1995, in Hyderabad to P. V. Ramana and P. Vijaya. She has been in the top 10 of the world ranking for several years and has diligently worked under the guidance of Gopichand.

At the time of publishing, Sindhu has played 446 matches in badminton singles. Out of these, she has won 317 matches. In her doubles career, she has played 20 matches, out of which she came out on top in 10 matches. Sindhu also won her lone mixed doubles appearance. Given Sindhu's stellar win at the BWF World Championship, many see the Indian shuttler as unbeatable considering the fact that she demolished her long-time on-court Japanese rival Nozomi Okuhara in straight sets in the final of the tournament.

Who has won more matches?

A neck-to-neck comparison throws up some interesting takeaways. Saina Nehwal has won a total of 434 matches in all the formats of badminton out of a total of 642. PV Sindhu, on the other hand, has won 338 matches out of the total 467 matches in her career.  A winning ratio comparison of the two players concludes that while Saina Nehwal has won 67.60% of her BWF matches, PV Sindhu has won 72.38% of the same. Therefore, in terms of a wining ratio comparison PV Sindhu seems to be ahead in terms of her wins. However, in absolute terms, Nehwal, with her wealth of experience, has won 96 more matches than her contemporary Nehwal up to this point.
