Saina Nehwal was first Indian bminton player to rank number one in world, as per BWF. Nehwal was born on March 17, 1990, in Hisar District. Her parents are Harvir Singh Nehwal and Usha Nehwal. Saina Nehwal has often spoken about family support that she enjoys which propels her on-court performances. Nehwal has been a huge inspiration for youth of India, especially women wanting to make ir mark in sports.

Saina Nehwal's BWF Career

She in her childhood used to spend a lot of time outside house playing different sports. She was fond of playing Karate. She also has a brown belt in Karate. However, due to her far’s transfer, she h to move to Hyderab. In Hyderab, she was t familiar with langu and was t able to mingle with or kids. That is why she used to play bminton with her mor. Her mor was a state-level bminton champion. She grew fond of sport and decided to take it up as a profession. Saina also became a player to fulfil her mor's dream.

Her career as a bminton player started at of 13 years. Her first major win was Junior National Championship. After which she went on to play in Junior Czech Open. In 2004, she went to play Commonwealth Youth Games and won a silver prize. Since n, she has only seen a rise in her career. In her whole BWF career, she has won 434 matches out of her 642 matches. Which include 612 singles matches, out of which she has won 427 matches. In her doubles career, she has won five matches out of 27 matches. Saina also won two out of three mixed matches. Her win to loss ratio is 67.60 per cent which shows how good she is with her game. Right w, she is preparing for Tokyo Olympics 2020. Saina has alrey won bronze in Olympics. w she aims to win a gold at Olympics. qualifiers for Olympics will start from April 29, 2019, and will go on till April 26, 2020.
