Lakers' new acquisition Anthony Davis has enjoyed a fruitful start to life in LA after making his debut for the Lakers this season. His pre-season debut for the Lakers was an absolutely dominating one. His regular-season debut may not have ended well for the Lakers, as they succumbed to a loss to their LA neighbours, the Clippers, but Anthony Davis did put up 25 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in 37 minutes of play in the 112–102 loss.

In the Lakers’ game against the Phoenix Suns, the LA-based side had to endure a scorching start from the Suns. While the Lakers were eventually able to pull off for a 123-115 win in the final minutes, the win came at some cost for the LA Lakers. Anthony Davis was forced to sit out the Lakers’ 120-94 win against the Warriors at the Chase Center.

Why is Anthony Davis not playing?

The former Pelicans star took a beating in the Lakers’ win against the Suns and ended up taking a shot to the ribs in the first quarter of the victory. While he did return to the locker room between the third and fourth quarters to get taped up, Anthony Davis was afforded some much-needed rest against the Warriors. And with good reason.

Anthony Davis' return imminent

Kyle Kuzma took Davis' place in the line-up against the Warriors and registered a 22-point return with five rebounds and two assists. The Lakers can, therefore, in such circumstances afford the former Pelicans star some rest. In the post-match conference, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel said that Anthony Davis' x-rays had come back negative. This means that the injury he suffered to the ribs against the Phoenix suns is definitely not long-term. According to an ESPN report, Davis is likely to be back in the Lakers' line-up for their upcoming game against the Sacramento Kings.
