Barack Obama praises Bucks for boycotting NBA playoffs in wake of Jacob Blake shooting
Barack Obama praised the Milwaukee Bucks for standing up for what they believe in after they boycotted their playoff game to protest the Jacob Blake shooting.

In a historic moment for sport all over, three NBA playoff games scheduled for Wednesday were postponed as teams decided against playing in protest of Jacob Blake shooting. Milwaukee Bucks who were set to face Orlando Magic in Game 5 of ir first-round series led NBA boycott. Following Bucks’ decision, NBA proceeded to postpone all three playoff games, with MLS, MLB and WNBA following suit.

decision by Milwaukee Bucks to boycott ir NBA playoff game came as a response to shooting of Jacob Blake. Blake, an African American man, was shot seven times in city of Kesha, Wisconsin on Sunday. Following NBA boycott, Milwaukee Bucks released a statement explaining ir stance on issue. In statement, Bucks players said that at a time when y have seen horrific videos of Jacob Blake shooting back home, y cant focus on basketball.

Barack Obama praises Bucks boycott
Praising decision of Milwaukee Bucks which led to NBA boycott, former president of United States Barack Obama lauded team for ‘standing up for what y believe in’. Hours after NBA boycott was anunced, Barack Obama tweeted that he commends Milwaukee Bucks players for standing up and protesting against Jacob Blake shooting, while also mentioning LA Clippers head coach Doc Rivers, NBA and WNBA for setting an example with boycott. While concluding, Barack Obama said that it is going to take all institutions to stand up for ir values.

NBA playoffs postponed: Politicians support decision
Apart from Barack Obama, several politicians came out in support of NBA boycott. Senator Bernie Sanders took to his Twitter handle to speak up on issue. 78-year-old wrote that he strongly supports NBA, WNBA and MLB players who are taking a stand against racial injustice. politician also demanded action against police authorities involved in Jacob Black shooting, as he wrote that real change takes place when people come toger and demand it.
Democratic Party minee Joe Biden retweeted Milwaukee Bucks’ statement as well, as he wrote that w is t time for silence. Referring to Bucks boycott, Biden tweeted that moment demands moral leadership. Praising Bucks for standing up, Joe Biden applauded players for using ir influence for good. Similar comments were made by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who praised NBA players and WNBA for ir cour.
