Doc Rivers could end up signing with Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers

According to recent reports, Doc Rivers – who recently parted ways with the LA Clippers after their playoffs elimination – could end up with Rockets or Sixers.

A few weeks after Los Angeles Clippers' disappointing 4-3 loss to Denver Nuggets in Western Conference semifinals, Doc Rivers anunced his departure as Clippers head coach. “When I took this job, my goals were to make this a winning basketball program, a free nt destination, and bring a championship to this organization,” Rivers wrote in his statement, admitting that he was t able to fulfil all of goals he had set. Later, Clippers Chairman Steve Ballmer confirmed that decision to part ways was mutual.

Doc Rivers to Sixers rumours grow with Rockets also in fray

According to various reports, Rivers – who was with Clippers since 2013 – could be a good fit for Houston Rockets or Philadelphia 76ers. Reports highlight that Rivers could potentially fix what Mike D'Antoni was lacking – defence and utilising bench effectively. However, Rockets might t be able to afford Rivers, as Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta has taken a $300 million load to aid his business during COVID-19 pandemic.

Philadelphia 76ers are ar choice for Rivers. As per reports, 58-year-old coach could help team work more seamlessly toger, maybe even convince Ben Simmons to attempt more shots from beyond arc. Additionally, Rivers could also help roster complement Joel Embiid more effectively on floor. New Orleans Pelicans with ir star rookie Zion Williamson are ar option.

Was Clippers coach Doc Rivers fired?

In his statement, Ballmer added that Rivers won a lot of games for team, building a foundation for ir franchise. He even thanked Rivers for his "commitment and contributions to Clippers and city of Los Angeles." This year, Clippers – with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George on ir roster – were under more pressure to win ir first NBA title (or even make conference finals). However, team blew a 3-1 lead, losing series to  Nuggets. 

Rivers became first coach in NBA to lose three 3-1 leads in playoffs. After season ended, Rivers spoke on ir loss, accepting responsibility for matter. 58-year-old coach was aware that team failed to meet expectations and was ready to take "any blame for it." In his Twiter statement, Rivers ended up thanking franchise and fan base, kwing that y "went through a lot" toger. team, on or hand, are determined to find  "right coach" to help m reach ir "ultimate goals". According to multiple reports, Doc Rivers fired rumours seem to be untrue. Clippers organization and Rivers were at odds regarding future course of action and, refore, mutually decided to part ways.
