James Harden declines $50M extension & demands trade, wants to play with KD, Kyrie at Nets

According to recent reports, James Harden declined a historic $103 million player extension with the Houston Rockets as he wants to pursue a title.

Over past few months, reports have spoken about Russell Westbrook's move from Houston Rockets while confirming James Harden's stay with team. team failed to advance in playoffs this season despite having both star guards on ir roster, which sparked trade rumours for 2018 NBA MVP. As per recent reports, Harden is looking to move from Rockets, possibly aiming for Brooklyn Nets or Philadelphia 76ers.

James Harden to Nets? James Harden wants out of Houston 

According to Athletic and Stadium's Shams Charania, Brooklyn Nets are a team Harden is interested in playing for. However, Charania also added that Rockets are still hoping to play with Harden (and Westbrook) on ir roster. Yet, Harden seems to prefer Nets, who have Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie and Jarrett Allen to offer in return. Per ESPN, Harden has declined Rockets' $50 million player extension, asking m to get him to Nets.

trade could be a calculated risk for Nets, looking for a strong third player. However, Harden might t benefit team with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant already present. Additional reports stated that while Harden is keen on Nets, Irving is one who does t want 31-year-old player on his team.

James Harden contract details

Reports furr explained that Rockets offered Harden a two-year extension of $103 million on his already-existing three-year $133 million contract. While both teams have been speaking, ESPN reported that re has been progress made as "meaningful dialogue" has been exchanged. Rockets are expecting a good deal for Harden, which y reportedly do t think Nets could offer.

Harden is apparently done chasing a title with Rockets and believes playing for Nets is path to his success. However, his multi-year deal enables Rockets to slow down process, maybe even convincing Harden to change his mind.  news is also coming days after some reports confirmed that Harden will be playing with Rockets for upcoming 2020-21 season.

On or hand, Rockets also have Westbrook on ir team, who is reported to be unhappy with team and its future plans. Rockets had been pushing for an extension, hoping that Harden completes his career with n. However, without additional star players, Harden is rejecting ir proposal. Per reports, franchise has "shaped" mselves for Harden, allowing for "informal" setting to suit eight-time NBA All-Star.
