'LeBron James hypocrite' claims gather pace on Twitter after HK activist blasts NBA star
Joshua Wong, a Hong Kong activist, has labelled LeBron James hypocrite for remaining silent on the Hong Kong protests against Mainland China in 2019.

Amid widespre protests against racial injustice and police brutality, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been one of key vocal figures in support of protests. Lakers star has used his social media platform to bring attention to peaceful protests across United States and has been frequently vocating for rights of Afro-Americans. While his outspoken nature has been supported by many activists and general population, Hong Kong activist Joshua Wong has labelled 'LeBron James hypocrite' mark on NBA star and his tweet criticising LeBron is quickly gaining attention of masses.

LeBron James hypocrite? Joshua Wong believes so
Joshua Wong, a 23-year-old student activist from Hong Kong, has been at forefront of protests in his native country since 2014. In his recent tweet, Joshua Wong shed light on LeBron James' comments about Hong Kong protests in 2019 where latter chose to remain silent on 2019 mass protests in Hong Kong against Mainland China. Wong calls LeBron James a 'hypocrite' and claimed that Lakers star "only talks loud in United States."
LeBron James hypocrite? 2019 NBA-China controversy
At start of 2019/20 NBA season, Houston Rockets general manr Daryl Morey stirred a major controversy when he tweeted his support for protests in Hong Kong against Mainland China. Morey's statement resulted in a major backlash from China, which is also one of NBA's biggest markets outside of United States. Chinese government reacted by cancelling brocast of all NBA games featuring Rockets, who are one of most beloved teams in China. China NBA relationship has since been rocky, although things cooled down after initial blowup.

Daryl Morey's comments came about time NBA teams toured country as a part of 2019 NBA China exhibition games. One of teams in Asian country was Lakers. When asked to comment on situation, LeBron James opted to stay silent on protests, inste, he criticised Daryl Morey for his 'misinformed' comments.

Subsequently, LeBron James took to Twitter to furr lament Morey claiming one tweet or comment can cause a lot of harm to ors. "I think when we talk about political side, it was a very delicate situation, a very sensitive situation,” LeBron James told ESPN. “And for me personally, you guys kw that when I speak about something, I speak about something I’m very kwledgeable about, something I’m very passionate about." 35-year-old drew himself away from hot topic by stating he was "t informed eugh" to speak up on Hong Kong protests.
While LeBron James did explain himself on multiple occasions, as it seems Joshua Wong and or activists in Hong Kong still hold a grudge against NBA star.
