Martin Luther King Day: NBA players don special warmup t-shirts in honour of the activist

In order to honour the American activist, NBA players will be wearing special warm-up t-shirts on the Martin Luther King Day on Monday (Tuesday IST).

This year, NBA has gone beyond an exciting game lineup to celebrate Martin Lur King Day. Keeping in mind ir social mess and MLK assasination and activism, league once again reunited for ar meaningful cause. While teams h ir own ways to tribute American activist, all players chose to wear a special warm-up t-shirt for Martin Lur King Day.

NBA MLK Day: How did NBA hour Martin Lur King birthday?

Before games, players of teams like Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns and more chose to wear a special shirt to hour him. t-shirt features a quote from his impactful and unforgettable "I Have a Dream" speech – "w is time to make justice a reality for all". At back, Dr King's signature lines up with words "HOR KING".

t-shirts put across two messs, one hour Martin Lur King, while or represents players' efforts to make an impact on social injustice since last summer. "Both messs are printed in a font derived from carrying signs used in Dr King Jr.'s memorial march on April 8, 1968," says a press release. ir tribute strengns ir stand for equality, coming when USA looks at social unrest – which began with George Floyd's death last May.

Atlanta Hawks also debuted ir 'MLK City Edition" jerseys, paying ir own tribute to Dr King – who was an Atlanta native. jerseys were released last year, featuring 'MLK' on front. players will also wear jerseys next season – profits being given to support communities.
