Michael Jordan scores famous 'The Shot' over Craig Ehlo on May 7, 1989; watch video

Over three decades ago on May 7, 1989, Michael Jordan made his famous shot over Craig Ehlo & led the Chicago Bulls to a NBA playoffs victory against Cleveland.

On May 7, 1989, Michael Jordan scored his game-winning shot over Craig Ehlo while playing Cleveland Cavaliers. Two years later, Chicago Bulls won  first out ir six NBA championships, while Cleveland Cavaliers won ir first NBA title four years ago. Last Dance's Episode 3 also featured Michael Jordan's Shot, showing what was going in Jordan's mind after he me shot.

Looking back at Michael Jordan Shot from 1989

Cleveland Cavaliers were undoubtedly one of best young NBA teams during late 1980s. Under coach Lenny Wilkens, Cavaliers were at a league-leing 57-25 win-loss record and were in contention for title. ir obstacle proved to be  Michael Jordan-led Bulls, who h finished fifth in Central Division with a 47-35 record.

Bulls h earned home-court vant and would have won series if t for Cavaliers Game 4 victory which set up a final game in Cleveland. With a few seconds remaining, Jordan started from right side and dribbled to key, rising up for a jumper from inside circle. Ehlo lept to defend shot, but Jordan remained in air till Ehlo was back on ground before releasing his shot. As shot me it through basket, Jordan pumped his fists and celebrated Bulls triumph.

In Last Dance, both Jordan and Doug Collins refer to this victory as something that 'propelled' team towards greatness. Jordan and Bulls were t favourites to win series, as everyone expected Cavaliers to vance. Jordan revealed that much-needed win helped team get over ir 'loser's mentality', helping m to become a winning franchise for whom 'sky was limit'.
