Carmelo Anthony called Gregoire via FaceTime before she began her round of extensive chemotherapy; he asked her to stay strong and keep fighting and not worry

Carmelo Anthony was back in news after signing a non-guaranteed contract to play for the Portland Trail Blazers in the current NBA season. The forward hasn’t played basketball since November 8, 2018, after being released by Houston Rockets. The forward played just 10 games with the Rockets last season and since then hasn't set foot on an NBA court.

Carmelo Anthony set for Trail Blazers debut

 The 10-time All-Star was a free agent for most of last season and was traded by Houston Rockets to Chicago Bulls last January, but he was waived on February 1. Anthony is expected to make his debut with the Blazers when they travel to New Orleans Pelicans. Anthony has spent his career as a member of the teams like Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, and Houston Rockets.

Before making his debut for Portland, Anthony surprised an NYC cancer patient with a fan moment. In October, Gregoire, sister of a Knicks superfan, Anthony Donahue and founder of The Orange and Blue Crew was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called 'Gioblastoma'.
