The turn of this decade was an interesting time for Cleveland Cavaliers' fans. LeBron James chose 2010 as the year he would depart the Cavaliers for the illustrious appeal of Miami Heat. "I'm going to take my talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat," LeBron proclaimed in 2010, as he departed the team that drafted him in the 2003 NBA draft.

Fellow 2003 draftees Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade joined LeBron James at Miami Heat to form a "super" team of sorts. Naturally, there was outrage at LeBron James' departure. Effigies were burned, words were thrown around, but LeBron James was far away from the vitriol in Cleveland. While Dwyane Wade wasn't as big a name as his fellow Miami Heat teammates LeBron James and Chris Bosh, the trio would go on to lead the Heat to four NBA Finals appearances and also win two NBA Finals.

Wade said that there was a perception in the NBA that if a player does not win a championship, he is not considered as a 'great'. This is what drove the trio during their Miami Heat days. Dwyane Wade famously rose to prominence in the Heat’s first-round playoff series against the New Orleans Hornets in 2004. In the dying minutes of the game, with the score tied at 79 apiece, Dwayne Wade netted a basket outmanoeuvring the outstretched arm of Hornets centre Jamaal Magloire to hand Miami Heat an 81-79 victory over the Hornets. The Heat would then go on to win the series in seven games.
