Kawhi Leonard continues to be in the headlines post his NBA title-winning campaign with Toronto Raptors last season. The Los Angeles Clippers stars' introduction of load management ( a term used for players who are sitting out games for non-injury related issues in order to preserve themselves for the post-season) has not only intensified the issue but has turned it into a debate in the current season.
Recently, the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday were fined a reported $50,000 on Thursday for statements made by coach Doc Rivers about Kawhi Leonard’s health ahead of their game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Speaking to a US media online portal, Orlando Magic coach Steve Clifford has said that his players are always expected to play. He also added it was the same when he coached Charlotte Hornets since the official order came from owner Michael Jordan. The coach said that the guys aren’t used to sitting out for two consecutive games. He said that it all goes back to expectations and being with Jordan in Charlotte, he used to tell them every year that they are paid to play 82 games.

Clifford also used Kemba Walker as an example of the Hornets’ philosophy, noting that the point guard played 82 games last season with a high usage rate.

The coach added that he has been doing this for 20 years and playing 82 games used to be a badge of courage for a lot of guys. Clifford also added that there were always a lot of guys who did not want to play. They stood out more.

Recently reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke to a US-based media house over the player's workload management issue and said that he is not a fan of load management, even when the Milwaukee Bucks' front office approaches him with the idea of taking a few nights off in order to keep him fresh throughout the season.
