Stephen Curry lauds D'Angelo Russell's performance as he became the 14th player in the history of the franchise to score at least 50 points since 1958.

D'Angelo Russell became the 14th player in the history of the franchise to score at least 50 points and the first since Rick Barry in 1958 to turn in the type of effort he did with 52 points, 9 rebounds (REB) and 5 assists (AST).

Russell's performance was not enough as Minnesota Timberwolves overcame his career-high 52 points as they defeated the Golden State Warriors 125-119 in overtime Friday night.

Russell had sprained his ankle and as a result, had to miss the previous three games for injury-depleted Golden State. This was Warriors' seventh different starting lineup in the last 10 games. His previous career-high was 44 points.

Stephen Curry who underwent surgery a week ago to repair a broken left hand which will keep him out of action for at least three months may have been far away from the game but he was watching the D’Angelo Russell show.

He still lauded what Russell was able to achieve as he wrote on his Twitter handle “Welcome back @Dloading,”

Surprisingly, not even Curry himself has been able to put in such a performance. The closest he came was against the New York Knicks back in 2013. That game, Curry scored 54 points, 6 REB and 7 AST.

Warriors went on to lose an entertaining game. The Dubs will have a chance to quickly make amends with another game tomorrow night against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
