LeBron James scripted history at Paris Olympics as he led USA men's basketball team to their fifth consecutive Gold medal at the summer games. LeBron James was named the MVP of the tournament and he also became the first men's basketball player to win three Olympic gold medals in three different decades.
As USA celebrated their Golden success at Paris Olympics, their basketball head coach and Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr after years of rivalry with James in the NBA finally admitted that he was blessed to get to coach him.
Steve Kerr is a LeBron fan for life
Steve Kerr and LeBron James have had numerous run-ins with each other in the NBA over the last decade with Kerr being at the helm of Golden State Warriors dynasty and LeBron James being his main foe at the Cleveland Cavaliers and then at Los Angeles Lakers.
However, this summer the iconic coach and player united for Team USA to take them to Paris Olympics glory. Post winning the Gold medal match against France, USA men's basketball and Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr admitted that he was blessed to get the opportunity to coach LeBron James.
“What a blessing to coach him finally after all these years of coaching against him. Trying to figure out how to beat him and then to watch him up close in this past few weeks just to see his approach, to see his professionalism. And then, of course, how gifted he is at everything. Every part of the game he seems to have mastered,” said Steve Kerr on LeBron James.
Steve Kerr further admitted that he was thrilled to have coached LeBron James this summer and admitted he was now a LeBron fan for life.
“I am thrilled to have coached him in this past six weeks. I am a LeBron fan for life,” said Steve Kerr.
The Unsung Hero
While, LeBron James and Stephen Curry are rightfully getting their plaudits for leading Team USA to Gold at Paris Olympics, Steve Kerr disagrees on who the true MVP was for the side.
The four time NBA Championship winning coach Kerr named Devin Booker as the real MVP for Team USA in Paris.
“Devin Booker is an incredible Basketball player. Nobody asked about him. He was our unsung MVP. I just wanted to say that,” added Steve Kerr.
With this Gold medal triumph, USA have now won 17 gold medals in 21 Olympics since men's basketball was introduced at the summer games.
