Steve Kerr reveals questioning D'Angelo Russell's signing with Warriors since the start

After months of anticipation and rumours surrounding D'Angelo Russell, 23-year-old guard was traded by Golden State Warriors to Minnesota Timberwolves in biggest blockbuster deal of NBA trade deadline day. In return, Warriors got Andrew Wiggins and ir lightly protected first-round pick. In an interview, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr spoke about D'Angelo Russell and Andrew Wiggins trade.

Stever Kerr talks about D'Angelo Russell-Andre Wiggins trade

According to Steve Kerr, Andre Wiggins is a much better fit for Warriors over D'Angelo Russell. He also added that GSW's scouts told him it will be a weak year for wings in NBA draft and free ncy, which is where Warriors plan to use Andre Wiggins. D'Angelo Russell had some similarities to Warriors star Stephen Curry and hence could t be a good fit after he returned. Steve Kerr even revealed that if he was honest, fit was questionable since y signed him last season.

Steve Kerr thinks Andrew Wiggins has a kind of 'pace' and 'speed' that will work well with Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry. He even thinks it will be better than D'Angelo Russell. Even though Andrew Wiggins has faced both offensive and defensive problems, he is going through best season of his career. Currently, Wiggins is averaging at 22.4 points, career-high 5.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. However, he is shooting only 44.4% from field and 33.1% from beyond arc.

D'Angelo Russell deal details

According to reports, Minnesota's first-round pick will be top-three protected for in 2021. If t conveyed, it will become unprotected in 2022. Warriors will also receive a 2022 second-round pick. Along with D'Angelo Russell, Warriors will send Jacob Evans and Omari Spellman to Timberwolves.
