China has chosen its most iconic animal -- panda -- to be official mascot of Beijing Olympics in 2022, Winter Games organising committee anunced on Tuesday. mascot, named "Bing Dwen Dwen," is a chubby giant panda wearing a suit of ice. black and white bear has a "heart of gold and a love of all things winter sports," tweeted Beijing Organising Committee for 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

For Paralympic Winter Games, mascot is a blushing red lantern named "Shuey Rhon Rhon." Beijing will be first city to host both Summer and Winter Games, after winning bid in 2015, beating out underdog Almaty. Chinese capital held summer Olympics in 2008 in what was n seen as China sealing its place on world st as an emerging superpower.

Some of Beijing's 2008 venues, however, including its iconic Bird's Nest national stadium, will be reused for 2022 Games.

It had hosted Summer Olympics back in 2008. Meanwhile, it will also mark fourth Winter Olympics to be held in East Asia. event will also mark three straight Olympics to be held in East Asia with or two being  2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
