Arjun Erigaisi reached historic milestone of surpassing 2800 Elo Rating Mark in live chess ratings. He achieved feat at 2024 European Chess Club Cup while representing Team Alkaloid. With this victory, Erigaisi also became third-ranked player in world, one of only 16 chess players ever to reach this ranking. PM Modi acknowledged Erigaisi's greatness As he expressed hope that his success would inspire young Indians to take up chess and strive for international recognition.

Erigaisi, 21-year-old Indian chess grandmaster is now second-only Indian player after Viswanathan Anand to surpass coveted milestone. He is also youngest Indian player to do so. Indian grandmaster has put himself to level of France's Alireza Firouzja and five-time World Champion Magnus Carlsen, who hold number one and two spot as youngest to go past 2800 rating mark.
