After surrendering to Proteas fast bowling in the boxing day test matches, India will play the second and last test against South Africa in the series. The match will be played in the Newlands stadium of Cape Town and will try to end the multi format series with a win. Also will look to carry the momentum in this new year.

As the regular captain of South Africa, Temba Bavuma is not well, Dean Elger will lead the side. Notably, Elger is also playing his last match and this will be his farewell match. But the visiting team, India will try to score some points in the 6-0 battle at Cape Town.  

India will look to register their first win at the Newlands, Cape Town as they have failed to win one match in this ground. The record at this ground is 4 losses and 2 draws in 6 matches, and South Africa has just dominated all the games. The record of South Africa at their own backyard is 2 defeats in 20 matches, and also these defeats came in T20Is, not in red ball.  

The last time India played a test match at Newlands, Cape Town:

India played their last test match at Newlands, Cape Town in January last year and just like every time, South Africa registered a 7-wicket win. Virat Kohli who was the captain of this team and his innings of 79 runs, helped the team to reach a respectable total of 223 runs. In the second innings, Rishabh Pant showed his heroics with unbeaten 100* off 139 balls and took India to 198 runs.  

The match saw a remarkable performance from both teams' pace bowlers, with Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada claiming seven wickets each across two innings for South Africa. Jasprit Bumrah also secured a five-wicket haul in the first innings. Keegan Petersen won the Player of the Match award for his outstanding contributions, scoring 72 and 82 in the two innings. South Africa successfully chased down a 212-run target on Day 4 with seven wickets in hand, making the victory look relatively easy.
