Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma and others get institutional quarantine exemption on request
Captain Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw and others have all been exempted from Maharashtra's compulsory institutional quarantine on special request.

Captain Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw, Shardul Thakur and Ravi Shastri arrived in Mumbai on Thursday morning staring at ar possible period of quarantine before y could go home to ir families. After almost 5 continuous months of quarantine living behind m and ar round of same set to begin on January 26, re is doubt that players were t looking forward to this.
However, after lengthy discussions with health experts, Maharashtra government was able to give champions ar bit of good news and send m on ir way home without quarantine.

Team India receives grand welcome on touchdown
As per rules of Maharashtra government, all passengers coming in from Europe, UK, South Africa and Middle East have to undergo a 7-day institutional quarantine followed by 7 more days in isolation at home before y can be out and about. However, considering that India vs Australia series was played in bio-secure conditions (meaning that players were all quarantined through series and did t come into contact with anyone but teammates), Mumbai Cricket Association appealed to government to make an exception for m.

According to reports, MCA put in a request to Shar Pawar, former president of association, to exempt five returnees from strict institutional quarantine measures. Kwing that all players have been in bio-bubbles since y began training for IPL in August 2020 and that y have each been tested almost every week since, government has allowed m to carry out ir quarantine period at home. Officials also pointed out that this was t some sort of special favour for cricketers, but in fact in keeping with rules of exemption mentioned on Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai website.

It will be a quick turnaround for most players returning from India vs Australia series, as India vs England series begins on February 5.
