Amid Champions Trophy 2025 Fiasco, PCB Abruptly Ends National Women's C'ship After Fire Incident

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) h to abruptly end National Women's Championship here on Monday after five players h a close shave following a fire incident in team hotel.

PCB h booked an entire floor for five competing sides and team officials.

A source said that when fire broke out, barring five players, all or cricketers and officials were at National Stium eir for matches or net sessions.

"Five players were in ir rooms when fire broke out. It has caused damage to some property of players and officials," he said.

"PCB has decided to curtail National Women's One-Day Tournament 2024-25 in Karachi following a fire incident at team hotel," PCB said in a statement.

"Fortunately, no players were injured, as PCB promptly evacuated five players in hotel at time of incident and relocated m safely to Hanif Mohamm High-Performance Centre." PCB apparently tried to find an alternate accommodation for teams but because of Ideas Defence Exhibition being held in Karachi, y could not find a hotel.

PCB said decision to truncate tournament was taken keeping in mind health and safety of players.

"ditionally, unavailability of alternative accommodations to meet approximately 100 rooms of required standards contributed to this outcome," said PCB statement.

“To determine tournament winner, PCB has decided that Invincibles and Stars -- top two teams after four matches each -- will face off in final. date and venue for final will be announced in due course.”
