Ashwin hails PM Modi's outreach for Janta Curfew, says 'country with a billion people...'

Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin came forward to laud Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he had addressed nation on vel Coronavirus pandemic. PM Modi, on Thursday, addressed nation and anunced a ‘Janta (public) Curfew’ on Sunday, in an attempt to contain spread of Coronavirus, which has affected over 200 people in India.
Soon after PM finished his address, Ravichandran Ashwin took to Twitter and stated that country needed such a speech from Prime Minister, however, he added that t everyone is privileged to have access to this information.

Meanwhile, all major cricket events have been called off too in wake of pandemic. Last week, India’s ODI series against South Africa was called off. England also cancelled ir two-match Test series in Sri Lanka before Australia called off ir ODI and T20I series against New Zealand.

Virat Kohli responds to PM Modi's 'Janta Curfew'
Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli on Thursday also urged citizens of country to adhere to rms put in place by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Taking to Twitter, Kohli appealed to everyone to be alert, attentive and aware to combat threat posed by COVID-19.

What is Janta Curfew?
Janta Curfew was one of most important anuncements in PM's address. Terming it as a curfew for people and of people, PM stated that it will be observed on Sunday, March 22. On this day, all citizens except those providing essential services were requested t to step out of house from 7 am to 9 pm. Furrmore, PM Modi called upon citizens to show gratitude to those serving nation such as doctors, etc. at 5 pm on March 22.
Addressing nation on Thursday, PM Modi said, "Today, I ask you all for you support to implement Janta Curfew. Janta Curfew is a curfew of people and by people implemented by people itself. This Sunday, that is after two days - March 22, morning 7 am to 9 pm in night, all citizens should follow Janta Curfew."
He added, "With Janta Curfew in force, people should move out of ir homes, avoid taking roads, t gar in societies and stay at home. However, people associated with important duties can go out. success of Janta Curfew on March 22 and its experience will prepare us for upcoming challenges. I also urge state government's to ensure that citizens follow Janta Curfew."
