Asia Cup 2023 hampered by incessant rain

As the weather has been fickle, there are chances that rain may again hamper the play at R. Premadasa Stadium. And if the water droplets fall again with a heavy intensity then covers may come again, which could lead to a call off of the game. Moreover, there is no provision of a reserve day as well. What will happen if India vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup Super 4 game washes out?

As it has been seen previously in the tournament, the abandonment of a game will lead to sharing of points, thus, a similar case will prevail in case the rain plays spoilsport again. The distribution of points will take both India and Sri Lanka on 3 points, with India leading the table due to a superior net run rate. Sri Lanka will be on second. However, no qualification will take place yet. Hence, barring Bangladesh all three teams will still be in the hunt for the spot in the final of the Continental Cup. 

However, courtesy of an overwhelming victory over Pakistan, India's NRR is in a position where India could still qualify for the final. But a safer route would go through a victory. Thus, rain may come or go, but Team India has to remain focused to cement a spot in the final, and thereby present the contention for the 8th Asia Cup title.
