After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Team India incurred huge blows early on in the innings. Shaheen Afridi sent the duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back, and thereby the trouble alarm was beginning to ring at a high frequency. After Afridi, it was the turn of Haris Rauf and he also removed two Indian batsmen. At 66/4, India were in desperate need of a partnership. Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya were in the middle. They started slow but kept the scoreboard ticking. Steadily they took the side away from the shade of danger and were on course to set up a total beyond the reach of the opposition. However, after adding 80 in a 138-run partnership, Ishan Kishan held out. Soon Hardik Pandya also perished and then a collapse ensued. Team India could not play the entire 50 overs but was successful in putting up a respected total of 266. In reply, Pak batters kept waiting but the incessant rain doomed the match.
