The much anticipated 5-Test match Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia in Australia is all set to start later this month with the first Test in Perth scheduled for 22nd November. India head into the series low on confidence after enduring a 3-0 drubbing at home in Tests at the hands of New Zealand.
Indian batters are struggling and one such batter is KL Rahul who was dropped from the playing XI vs New Zealand. Ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, gun Australian pacer has bullishly revealed that the team is planning to exploit KL Rahul's mindset.
Aussie pacer warns KL Rahul
KL Rahul's form has come under major scrutiny after his performance in the first Test vs New Zealand and as a result he was dropped for the remainder of the series. Given India's batting struggles and his experience playing in Australia, KL Rahul is likely to start the Perth Test.
Australian pacer Scott Boland is wary of the quality KL Rahul and said it'll be nice to play against him down under.
“I was lucky to bowl him in a Test, over in India a couple of years ago, but it'll be nice to play against him in our backyard,” said Scott Boland.
Scott Boland further warned that Australia would have to get on top of KL Rahul from the very beginning to put pressure on him.
“He's a world-class player but someone I think we can get on top of pretty early and hopefully stay on top of him for the majority of the summer,” said Scott Boland.
Australia aim to win back BGT
Australia haven't won the Border Gavaskar Trophy since they beat India at home back in the 2014-15 series. Since then, India have won all the four series which has taken place among the two sides.
Additionally, Australia have endured defeat to India at their home turf on the last two occasions back in 2018-19 and 2020-21.
Pat Cummins and his troop are hungrier than ever to get back at India in this 5-match series and win back the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
