'I'd Love Another Opportunity': Steve Smith Pleads IPL Return After Last Year's Shocking Rejection

After going unsold in the previous IPL auction, Australia batter Steve Smith is still eager to compete in the cash-rich cricket tournament.

One of m is Steve Smith, who has yet to push limits and score big numbers on scoreboard. While he has been a Test cricket stalwart, batter's fate in T20Is remains in chaos as he has yet to make a statement in limited-over format. With IPL buzz also pacing up due to auction, Steve Smith has opened up on possibility of playing IPL after he failed to impress any franchise in previous auction.

Steve Smith Eager For An IPL Return Despite Going Unsold In Previous Auction   

During an appearance with Fox Cricket, Steve Smith opened up about his absence from IPL and was a part of brocast team. Australia batter said that he still has what it takes to play and would love to compete, given he receives a chance from one of ten franchises in upcoming auction.

"I hope so. I thought I played quite nicely, in terms of international T20s I don't know what's going on re. You know y've obviously got some people y want to bring in and I think that's fine. I'd certainly love anor opportunity at IPL. I have thrown my name in hat and let's see how we go," Steve Smith said.

Smith has been off IPL since 2021 and h registered for auction for 2024 season. Surprisingly, he was not picked up in first round of auction. But he went on to perform quite well for MLC as Smith scored 336 runs at a strike rate of 148.67 in July while leing Washington Freedom to ir first Major League Cricket championship.

In dition, he was named Player of Match for his 52-ball 88 against San Francisco Unicorns in championship game. Australia batter will also compete in Big Bash League, where he will be a part of Sydney Sixers.
