The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to assemble an emergency meeting on Tuesday to address the 11-point demand list of top international Bangladesh players who announced an indefinite strike on the previous day. The players have decided to not participate in any cricketing activity until their demands are fully met by the BCB's governing body. Their strike will directly impact the ongoing National Cricket League, the country’s oldest and premier first-class tournament. It will also affect Bangladesh’s upcoming tour to India, which will comprise of three T20Is and two Test matches.

Bangladeshi cricketers implemented their 11-point demand on Monday and gave an ultimatum to the board. While speaking to the media, the BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that the demands raised by the players are being handled on a priority basis. In order to go ahead with the Indian tour, the board has opted to organise an emergency meeting.

BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus was also supportive of the demands raised by the players. He referred to the demands as ‘reasonable’ and mentioned that most of them will be fulfilled by the board. He cited that the upcoming edition of Bangladesh Premier League will be held like the previous editions.

Bangladesh Tour of India 2019

Initially, the Bangladeshi cricket team were slated to tour India which would begin with a T20I affair on November 3. The tour was supposed to be country’s second-ever bilateral trip to India where the two Asian giants were scheduled to participate in the second edition of Ganguly–Durjoy Trophy. The trophy is named after two former captains of both teams, Sourav Ganguly and Naimur Rahman Durjoy. The eponymous Test trophy started when the Bangladesh team previously visited India in 2017. In the inaugural 2017 edition, Team India won the one-off Test match by 208 runs. ‘Man of the Match’ Virat Kohli scored a flamboyant 204 in the first innings to propel India’s total to 687-6 declared.
