Bangladesh legend Shakib Al Hasan retires from T20 Internationals with immediate effect

Bangladesh cricket legend Shakib Al Hasan has called time on his T20 International career, announcing his retirement from the format with immediate effect. The 37-year-old all-rounder, who has been a cornerstone of Bangladeshi cricket, has decided to hang up his T20I boots after featuring in 129 matches for his country.
However, fans will still be able to witness Shakib's prowess on the field, as he has opted to continue playing in various franchise leagues around the world.

The announcement ahead of the second Test match between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur. Shakib Al Hasan has also said that the Kanpur Test against India will be his last one if he doesn't get a game at home. Shakib Al Hasan has been named as an accused in a murder case back home and has been unable to visit Bangladesh since the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
"I have played my last T20 match in T20 World Cup . We have discussed this with the selectors. Looking at the 2026 World Cup, this is the right time for me to move out. Hopefully BCB will find some great players and we will perform well," Shakib said.
