Soumya Sarkar and his family could face legal action and possible jail term owing to possession of deerskin. Sarkar’s far Kishori Mohan Sarker in a recent media interaction shed light on controversy and said that deerskin was a family tradition. He added that skin was passed on from generations and he received it from his far and passed it on to Soumya. A person who possesses animals or wildlife skin without a license may be subject to a prison sentence of up to three years as per section 6 of Wildlife Conservation Act.
