BCA withdraws suspension against Bedade, but axes him as women's team coach

Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) has sacked former India player Atul Bedade from post of women's team coach while withdrawing his suspension on allegations of sexual harassment levelled by some players. development was confirmed by BCA secretary Ajit Lele to PTI on Wednesday. matter came up for discussion during Apex Council meeting held on Tuesday. Bedade was suspended earlier in March this year, till furr inquiry after multiple players accused him of sexual harassment and public shaming.

"A complaint was received against Mr Atul Bedade, Head coach senior women's team. A preliminary enquiry was conducted by CEO and Sr. Manr HR in matter," BCA stated in a release.
"During Apex Committee meeting held on June 2, 2020, issue was discussed and CEO and Sr Manr HR were called to explain details of investigation and ir recommendations.
"Based on details provided to Apex Committee, it was resolved by Apex Committee that his suspension stands withdrawn," release furr stated.
However, Apex Committee felt that considering sensitivity of matter, it was advisable t to eng his services for Women's Cricket team. However, it is reliably leanrt that Lele and Association's Joint Secretary Parag Patel have registered ir dissent against said resolution.

A source said that Lele and Patel edpeessed ir dissent because, y felt that without completing pending inquiry suspension can't be revoked. Lele and Patel strongly opposed this move but it was passed by majority in Apex council meeting, source, who was In kw how of development said. It is also understood that Anju Jain would be new coach of women's team and process to select it was on.
