BCCI CEO claims IPL 2020 with international stars possible post rainy season: Report
BCCi CEO Rahul Johri said that more people watched the Indian Premier League (IPL) last year than those who voted in the general elections.

much-awaited Indian Premier League 2020 (IPL 2020) which was slated to start from March 29 was postponed indefinitely due to coronavirus pandemic that wreaked havoc in world. postponement of marquee event left fans sad. However, fans have a reason to cheer up w as BCCI is keen on getting IPL 2020 underway in September-vember window according to recent reports.

BCCI CEO hopeful of conducting IPL 2020 after monsoon
fate of IPL 2020 largely depends on T20 World Cup in Australia which is scheduled from October 18 to vember 15. Australia might postpone tournament due to coronavirus pandemic t subsiding in country. CEO of BCCI, Rahul Johri said that plans are on to hold IPL 2020 with Indian and international players after monsoon.
While speaking at TCM Sports Huddle webinar, Johri said that IPL is one of greatest engrs in cricket. He added that for sponsors, cricket is a leader and it will lead way. He also said that recovery will be sharper than a V-shaped recovery.

Johri furr said that flavour of IPL is that best players in world come and play and everyone is committed to maintaining that flow. But it will be a step-by-step process. He added that y can’t expect things to get rmalised instantly. However, he was clear that players’ decision to participate or t would be respected.

BCCI CEO reckoned that y will be guided by government guidelines and added that advisory says that IPL is suspended till furr tice. He also revealed that y are engaging with various ncies. After current phase of lockdown ends, re is monsoon. Cricketing activities can start only after monsoon. Johri furr was hopeful of situation improving after rainy season.

He furr said that when flights resume, everyone has to quarantine mselves before playing. He added that y will have to look at how that will impact schedules, which as it is are tight. Johri accepted that scheduling IPL won’t be easy even in October-vember window. However, he was optimistic and hopeful that situation will improve after monsoon.
On being asked about holding IPL 2020 without spectators, Johri said that it will t just be in IPL but also international cricket. He added that although tickets give m a small percent of ir revenue, it is important because a bulk of that goes in maintenance of stadiums. However, he said that in short term, cricket in India can live without spectators.
