BCCI denies Guwahati rights for 9th IPL team, Ahmedabad and Pune remain favourites?
The BCCI official has said that other cities like Pune, Lucknow, Kanpur can also be included, but the inclusion of Guwahati at this stage is unlikely.

Dream11 IPL 2020 was successfully completed recently in UAE and w focus turns towards IPL 2021, which slated to take place in March-April 2021. While re is less time left for Sourav Ganguly led Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to make all preparation for upcoming edition, media report suggested that BCCI was likely to d 2 more teams for IPL 2021 edition.

However, latest report published by Insidesport states that Guwahati has also joined bandwagon and thrown ir hat in ring to become one of teams for IPL 2021. decision over ding two new teams to IPL roster will be decided during BCCI's Annual General Meeting which is set to take place on December 24, with report suggesting that city of Ahmedab is certain to be included as one of franchise.
Will Guwahati become part of IPL 2021?
According to website, local media has reported about Assam Cricket Association secretary Devajit Lon Saikia confirming about planning to propose Guwahati as one of new team in BCCI’s AGM scheduled to take place on December 24th. However, a senior BCCI official, while speaking to publication has said that at this st it is t possible.

official said that team are t granted to any state associations and if BCCI AGM may approve inclusion of 1 or 2 teams for next edition. Ahmedab will be one of city. He also said that or cities like Pune, Luckw, Kanpur can also be included in list, but inclusion of Guwahati in list of potential cities at this st is unlikely.

report also mentions that proposal to increase two teams for IPL 2021 will be formally floated during AGM. approval which will be taken from representatives of all state associations for inclusion of two new teams in said meeting on Dec. 24th.

Ahmedab cricket stium to host day/ night Test during India vs England 2021 series
While Ahmedab is almost certain to be included in IPL 2021 if proposal of ding two new teams in approved, city will also host day/ night Tets during India vs England 2021. A couple of days back PTI h reported about BCCI secretary Jay Shah making an anuncement regarding Ahmedab cricket stium chosen as venue for day/night Test. day/night Test match will be India's second pink-ball Test at home after Banglesh game at Eden Gardens last year.
