BCCI Electoral Officer explains "criteria" for deleting big names

Coming under pressure to delete big names from the electoral list, BCCI has said that it has followed proper procedure to finalize names who can vote at the AGM

"Under-pressure" to explain "criteria" for deleting "big names" from BCCI's Final Electoral Roll, BCCI has made it clear that proper and due procedure has been followed to finalize "eligible names" who can attend & vote in Board's AGM.  In a letter to all BCCI members and State Associations, a copy of which is with Republic TV, Electoral Officer N Gopalswami wrote:

" Electoral Officer received numerous objections in respect of entries on Draft Electoral Roll issued on 4 October 2019. Upon declaration of Final Electoral Roll on 10 October 2019, Electoral Officer has received requests to provide a response on treatment of specific objections and to clarify  process undertaken and materials and issues evaluated by Electoral Officer during scrutiny process of entries on Draft Electoral Roll.

"All objections received on or before 7 October 2019 by Electoral Officer were reviewed and processed by Electoral Officer. In so far as y related to compliance by Full Member and conduct and results of elections of Full Members, se objections were outside ambit of Electoral Officer’s Terms of Reference."

scope of Electoral Office

Explaining scope of Electoral Office it said: "Electoral Officer’s remit during scrutiny of applications for mination of Representatives of compliant Full Members, it said was to determine (i) wher minee had been properly authorized in accordance with constitution of Member Association, as approved by CoA, and BCCI constitution and (ii) wher minee was eligible to act as a Representative in terms of constitution of Member Association, as approved by CoA, and BCCI constitution. Where Electoral Officer deemed necessary, Representative was provided an opportunity to respond in writing or during a personal hearing, to relevant objections to his candidature."

" scrutiny was completed after due consideration of objections received, responses provided and information relating to compliance status of Full Members, as provided by CoA to Electoral Officer."

" Final Electoral Roll was duly compiled after completion of scrutiny process as above. This clarification may serve as a general response to all concerned."
