International Cricket Council (ICC) has been in a tussle with 'Big 3' of cricket (BCCI, CA, and ECB) over last year as ICC has tried to work out a new cricket calendar. ICC had proposed and implemented a schedule which has an ICC event every year to support smaller boards and ir revenues. This has led to some issues being raised by big boards like Sourav Ganguly-led BCCI, who believe that extra ICC tournaments will negatively impact player workload and bilateral revenues.

According to a report by  Times of India, leading member boards of ICC (mainly BCCI, ECB, and CA) have written to apex body, asking for ongoing World Test championship cycle to be scrapped along with dropping of plans for ICC's ODI League. World Test Championship was launched by ICC to give context to bilateral Test cricket and was launched in 2019. final of tournament is scheduled to take place at Lord's in 2021. Due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic, multiple bilateral tours were called off and major tournaments like BCCI's IPL 2020 have also been suspended. In times like se, boards are t sure of how cricket calendar will work out once pandemic subsides. As reported, boards do t want to risk affecting ir bilateral windows and losing profits from ir bilateral media deals due to ir obligations to ICC calendar. boards also want ICC to have a look into Future Tours Program (FTP) and make changes to it.

A leading administrator (presumably from BCCI) recently told Times of India that ICC is showing leadership whatosever at moment. He ridiculed ICC's thought process as nearly all top cricket boards are involved in healthy media rights deals with broadcasters and if idea is implemented, y could lose out on a large share of revenues, which would have an adverse impact on ICC's financial state itself.
