The culmination of the T20 World Cup has been a lot of joy for Team India and the Indian Cricket fans. But on the contrary, it also marked the end of Rahul Dravid's run as the coach of the Indian Cricket Team. Given that he hasn't re-applied for the job, a new face will be coming up soon to succeed The Wall and take charge as the coach. Dravid has had a superior run with the team as he won several bilateral series and capped off his run with a T20 World Cup win. But why did Dravid not re-apply for the job despite the senior players' pleas? Turns out that Jay Shah has an answer.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) honorary secretary, Jay Shah, has been with the team in Barbados since the T20 World Cup title win and he has opened up on several aspects. Shah also touched upon the new coach, revealing that the new man in charge will lead the team in the Sri Lanka tour. The BCCI secretary also unveiled the reason that Rahul Dravid did not re-apply for the post, saying that he cited family commitments as the main concern for him not returning to the team.

"He told me that due to family commitments he wants to quit and we respect his decision. I didn’t forced him to extend.

"Rahul Dravid’s role is as important as Rohit Sharma in this T20 World Cup title triumph. He is a man, who took the team to the 2023 ODI World Cup final and didn’t wanted to leave because he wanted to finish the job," Jay Shah said while speaking to the reporters in Barbados after India's T20 WC win.
