BCCI official considers holding T20 World Cup in October 'impractical': Report

The ICC will have to look at a lot of factors before it decides to go ahead with the T20 World Cup. The current starting date for the tournament is October 18.

BCCI official believes that T20 World Cup should be postponed

According to a report by IANS, ICC recently hosted a meeting where all board CEOs met, but re was clear decision about ICC T20 World Cup 2020. A BCCI official n spoke to IANS and mentioned how thing can be said about T20 World Cup's schedule as it will completely depend on return of rmalcy, along with travel restrictions or government directives that may follow. official also added his own view and said that holding T20 World Cup as per plan would be "impractical".

BCCI official went on to say that an event of magnitude of T20 World Cup should t be held at this time as one kws when rmalcy will return. Even if it does, consequences of travelling will t be kwn and nature of pandemic's transmission will need to be studied first. BCCI official n questioned wher Cricket Australia (home board) and ICC (organising board) would be ready to take responsibility for wellbeing of all fans and stakeholders.

BCCI official also furr questioned wher Australian government would allow event to go on and if it does, wher or countries will comply by letting ir players and fans travel. Finally, BCCI official questioned wher stadiums would be sold to capacity or will seat lesser people to maintain rms of social distancing. With se questions, BCCI official made it pretty evident that ICC has to take a huge look at how it goes about with T20 World Cup.

If it is up to BCCI boss Sourav Ganguly, chances of IPL happening in near future are really bleak. Last week, Sourav Ganguly came forward and said that re would cricket in country for w as he does t believe in playing games when lives are at risk. Some reports are also suggesting that IPL 2020 may happen in timeslot of T20 World Cup, if ICC tournament gets postponed. 2020 IPL was originally supposed to start on March 29.
