BCCI postpones IPL 2020 indefinitely after Centre extends COVID lockdown till May 3

Indian Premier League 2020 season has w been postponed indefinitely as anunced by BCCI on Wednesday. decision to postpone IPL 2020 was discussed over a conference call on Tuesday evening by BCCI's top officials including Sourav Ganguly (President), Jay Shah (Secretary), Brijesh Patel (IPL chairman), Arun Dhumal (BCCI Treasurer) and Hemang Amin (IPL COO). According to ESPN, BCCI has reached out to all stakeholders, including eight franchises and broadcasters, to convey that event stands "postponed and t cancelled". This is second time that IPL 2020 has been postponed. Last month, India was put under a three-week lockdown due to which tournament was pushed forward to April 15.

BCCI had several plans in mind to conduct IPL 2020. y first conceived idea conducting a month-long IPL with final scheduled in first week of June. n y also were planning to play games behind closed doors but a rapid rise in number of coronavirus cases in country saw all plans pushed to backburner.
only available window for an IPL in current year would be between September and vember, provided Cricket Australia and ICC agree to reschedule T20 World Cup. six-month travel restrictions in Australia end on September 30 if situation becomes rmal and T20 World Cup is scheduled in October-vember.
