BCCI President Sourav Ganguly talks about the ICC and cricket in India

Ganguly said it is a great feeling to head the country's cricket board and that it gives him an opportunity to do something at a time when the board needs it.

Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly will begin a new inning when he takes over as President of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Speaking to media after appointment, Ganguly said that it was a great feeling to head country's cricket board, and also gives him an opportunity to do something at a time when board’s im has got hampered quite a lot.

BCCI President 2019: Sourav Ganguly to relinquish CAB post

Sourav Ganguly, who was elected upposed, pipped Brijesh Patel to become front-runner for top job and will have to relinquish his current post as president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) to take up job. He admitted that getting elected upposed is a big responsibility.

former skipper said that he is taking over helm at a time when BCCI have t been in a great position for last three years. Sourav Ganguly feels that this is a great opportunity for him to do something good.

Sourav Ganguly's take on BCCI and ICC

Speaking to media, Ganguly said that BCCI is important to ICC as it t only generates funds; which is one part but popularity of game matters. He also said that India has a huge role to play in ICC and that board needs to be respected which at moment is t happening.

47-year-old also said that his first priority in short tenure would be to look after first-class cricketers and for that he plans to meet all stakeholders in Indian cricket and wants to do what Committee of Administrators (CoA) didn't do for 33 months.

Earlier, Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief Vid Rai expressed his delight on former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly filing his mination for post of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president. Hailing both his cricketing as well as administrative experience, Rai termed it as an “excellent development”.
