BCCI state units welcome Supreme Court verdict for holding elections
BCCI state units have welcomed the Supreme Court directive that allowed them to hold elections in their respective associations. This was also welcomed by TNCA.

CoA's statement
A few days back, Committee of ministrators (CoA) in ir electoral directive h mentioned that even tenure of service in Working Committee will be calculated to determine 'cooling-off' period, which would effectively put an end to Sourav Ganguly (CAB president) and Jay Shah's (GCA secretary) hopes of re-election. Supreme Court on Friday also allowed TNCA to hold elections to elect office-bearers but said results will be subject to its decision. A bench comprising Justices S A Bode and L Nswara Rao said state cricket associations can go ahe with elections but will t declare results. It will be subject to order of this court and legal remedies will be available to parties. bench, in its interim order, furr directed that disqualification rms "shall remain confined to office-bearers only".
"It is a welcome move. One needs to wait for complete order and study finer details before commenting. Having said that, we are happy that Hon'ble Supreme Court has listened to state association's plea and provided much-needed relief and breathing ," CAB joint secretary Avishek Dalmiya told PTI.

TNCA welcomes SC's directive
TNCA also welcomed Supreme Court's directive.
"We h sought a clarification on certain issues and it has come. elections will be conducted. TNCA will hold a meeting in a couple of days to discuss court direction and conduct of elections," a senior TNCA source said.

CoA counsel during Friday's hearing alleged that TNCA was amongst few associations, which have t complied with Constitution of BCCI as per August 9, 2018 judgement. In that regard, SC judgement is a shot in arm for Tamil Nu as N Srinivasan, despite being disqualified as per Lodha rms, will remain relevant in BCCI power game. While CoA members were t available for comments, a source close to SC-appointed committee said that BCCI elections will go on as per schedule." However, re are still some doubts as to wher y can hold AGM by October 22 as some state units might t be able to conduct ir polls by September 28 deline. apex court on Friday also ruled that 21-day tice period for holding elections will be waived subject to discretion of Amicus Curiae PS Narsimha.In case, some of state units delay ir elections, n AGM may be deferred by a few days or weeks.
